Chapter 6
Balarishta (early death)
| Stanza 1: | Children born during sandhi or when birth is in Chandra hora, when evil planets occupy the ends of signs or when four malefics (including Moon) occupy quadrants, will die |
| Stanza 2: | If cruel and benefic planets occupy the first and the second halves of the zodiac respectively and the birth rises in an insect rasi or if the birth and the 7th ar placed between malefics, the child dies straightaway |
| Stanza 3: | If malefics occupy birth and 7th and if Moon joins cruel planets, unaspected by benefics, the child dies quickly |
| Stanza 4: | If a weak Moon occupies the 12th with malefics in the birth and the 8th without benefics in quadrants, the child dies soon |
| Stanza 5: | If Moon joins a malefic and occupies the 7th, 8th or 12th and when benefics aren’t in quadrants and don’t aspect these, the child dies |
| Stanza 6: | If Moon occupies 6th or 8th aspected by malefics, early death comes. If such Moon has beneficial aspects, the child dies before 8. If such Moon ahs mixed aspets, the child lives for 4 years. If a benefic occupies the 6th or 8th aspected by powerful malefics, the child lives for a month. If the lord of the birth joins the 7th and suffers defeat there by malefics, similar results must be predicted |
| Stanza 7: | If a weak Moon joins the lagna with malefics in the 8th or quadrants, or if Moon is betwixt malefics occupying the 4th, 7th or 8th, the child dies. If Moon is in lagna as above stated, malefics in the 7th and 8th without the aspect of powerful benefics, the mother and child both die |
| Stanza 8: | If Moon occupies the last navamsa of the sign and malefics are in the 5th and 9th without beneficial aspects, or if lagna joins Moon with malefics in the 7th, the child dies immediately |
| Stanza 9: | If Moon joins a malefic in lagna, eclipsed with Mars in the 8th, both mother and child die. Similarly, if Sun is in lagna, death results from weapons. If Moon or Sun occupy the lagna with powerful malefics in trines and the 8th, unassociated with benefics, the child dies |
| Stanza 10: | If Saturn, Sun, Moon and Mars occupy the 12th, 9th, lagna and 8th respectively, unaspected by a powerful Jupiter, the child dies quickly |
| Stanza 11: | If Moon is with malefics and occupies a trine, 7th, 8th or 12th and not aspected by or combined with a powerful Venus, Mercury or Jupiter, death comes early |
| Stanza 12: | If Moon in transit joins the house of the most powerful malefic in the above yogas or joins his own place, or the lagna, when he’s strong and has strong malefic aspects, he causes death to the child within one year |

Balarishta: In Kalyana Varma's Saravali
Ch. 10. Evils at Birth
1. In the absence of knowledge of longevity, attempts to know other information are futile. So I explain below Arishtas (evils) in order to determine longevity.
2. Male planets are strong in odd Rāśis, bright lunar half and day-time. Female planets are strong in even Rāśis, dark lunar half and night-time.
3. There are three kinds of evils, explained by astrological expounders. These are preordained, accidental and Yogaja (arising of planetary combinations). The third kind is dealt with below, while others are explained later on.
4. Should Jupiter be in 8th and in a House of Mars and aspected by Sun, Moon, Mars and Saturn, the child dies in 3 years.
5. If Saturn is retrograde in a House of Mars, while Moon is in 6th, 8th, or an Angle and aspect Mars, the child born lives for two years.
6-7. If Saturn joins Sun and Moon at birth, the life-span is only nine years, according to Brahmasaunda. Should Mars, Sun and Saturn be in Taurus identical with 8th, the native lives for one month even though Lord Yama may try to save him.
8-9. Even, if there be a single malefic in 8th House, owned by Venus and aspected by other malefics, the native lives for one year only in spite of the fact, that he may drink nectar. If Venus is in 12th, 6th, or 8th, owned by Sun, or Moon and is aspected by all benefics, the life-span is six years.
10-11. If Mercury occupies Cancer identical with 6th, or 8th from Ascendant and is aspected by the Moon, life is only up to 4. The efficacious Raja Yogas expounded by Yavanas may produce persons of high descent. Even such children are subject to premature end in this case.
12-13. If the birth star is identical with the one, in which Ketu rises, the native lives only for two months. Should the Sun be in 10th House identical with that of Mars, or Saturn and aspected by strong malefic, the native faces immediate death.
14-15. Should the Ascendant fall in Nigala, Sarpa, Pakshi, or Pasa decanate and be occupied by malefic planets, without the aspect of the decanate Lord concerned, the native lives up to 7 years only. If Rahu is in an Angle and aspected by malefics, the longevity is only 10, while, according to some, it is 16.
16-17. If malefics are Angles and Trines, while benefics are relegated to 6th, 8th and 12th, one born at the time of sunrise dies at once. If the three planets, viz. the Lords of Navāńśa Lagna, Moon Sign and natal Ascendant, are combust, the person lives just for a few years.
18. If the 6th is occupied by the Ascendant Lord, death occurs in the year corresponding to Rāśi concerned. If the occupant is the Lord of rising decanate, death occurs in the month corresponding to Rāśi concerned and, if it is Lord of Navāńśa Lagna, the Rāśi concerned causes death in so many days.
19. If Saturn is in the Ascendant in aspect to malefics, longevity is only 16 days. If Saturn in the Ascendant is in the company of malefics, death occurs in a month and, if he is alone in the Ascendant without malefic connections, the child lives for one year.
20-22. If weak Moon is in the Ascendant excepting Cancer, Taurus and Aries and is aspected by malefics, the child passes away (soon). The Moon in 6th, or 8th, if aspected by malefics, causes death in one year, while, when aspected by benefics, she kills in the 8th year. Should the aspect be from both benefics and malefics, the life-span is only 4. This should be decided according to the strength of such bodies.
23-24. Should benefics be in 6th, or 8th and be aspected, or conjoined with retrograde malefic, without the aspect of benefic, the child lives only for one month. If malefics are in 12th, 2nd, 6th and 8th, without connection of benefics, the child dies in 6, or 8 months.
25-26. If the Lords of Lagna and the Moon Sign are together in 6th, 8th, or 12th and be combust, the child dies in the year corresponding to the Rāśi. Should the Lord of the Ascendant be in 7th, defeated by a malefic and be without a benefic's aspect, death occurs in a month. Similar clues should be drawn from Moon and her dispositor.
27-28. If Moon is conjoined with Mars and Sun and be in 2nd, or 5th unaspected by benefics, the child doubtlessly dies in the 9th year. Sages declare, that, if the Ascendant Lord is in 8th in aspect to all the malefics, who are with strength, the child dies in the fourth month.
29-30. If the Lord of Moon Sign, the Sun and his son are in 8th, the child dies in the year corresponding to the Rāśi concerned. Should the Moon be with malefics, be in 12th, 8th, 6th, or Ascendant and be not aspected by benefics, while benefics are non-angular, the child dies at once.
31-32. If malefics are in the oriental half of the Zodiac (from 10th to 4th Bhava Madhya) with benefics relegated to the occidental half, birth in Scorpio Ascendant causes what is Vajra Mushti Yoga. One born in such a Yoga does hardly live. According to Yavanas, if weak Moon is in Lagna, while malefics are angular, or in 8th, (instant) death is caused.
33-34. One born in twilight does not live long, if the Ascendant falls in lunar Hora, while malefics are posited in the end of the Rāśis, which are angular, along with the Moon. Should the Moon be amidst two malefics and be in 7th, 4th, or 8th, even Gods cannot save one from (instant) death.
35-36. If the Moon is hemmed between two malefics, be in the Ascendant, 7th, or 8th and be in aspect to weak benefics, (infant) death follows. Should malefics be in 7th and 8th and be aspected by malefics, the child dies along with its mother. If there be aspect from benefics in such a case, the mother becomes sick (there will not be immediate death).
37-38. If the Moon be eclipsed and be in the Ascendant along with malefics, while Mars is in 8th, the child quits the world along with its mother. The mother dies of weapons along with the child, if it be a solar eclipse with Sun and malefics in the Ascendant, while Mars is in 8th. Should weak Moon be in the Ascendant and malefics be angular, or in 8th, without benefic's aspect, death is imminent. This view is of Satyācārya.

Balarishta: In Garg Hora
Should Mars be in the 7th, while Venus is in the 8th followed by the Sun in the 9th, the native will be shortlived.
The native will meet with his end, if Jupiter and Rahu are together in the Ascendant, or the 4th. The end will be in the 13th year even, if Lord Siva may try to save him. (That is, death in 13th year is certain).
If Lagna happens to be a malefic sign and is occupied by the said malefic Lagna Lord himself, while one among the 4th, 7th and the 10th being a malefic sign is occupied by its own malefic lord, the child will live only upto six. He will prove inauspicious to its mother. Additionally, there will be destruction of maternal relatives, if the 6th house is unaspected by Jupiter.
The child, who has the Sun in Leo, a malefic in Virgo and Rahu in a malefic’s house will only live for six years.
The longevity is only for 19 years, if the Moon is in the 8th, malefics in angles and Rahu in the 10th at birth.
The child will die instantly, if Rahu is in the Ascendant, or in 8th and is in aspect to the Moon. Even Indra cannot save such child.
Mercury in the Ascendant, or 6th, or 8th can cause death at the age of 4. Even if the native is dipped in nectar, it will be of no avail.
Mars and Jupiter in exchange in Rāśi will inflict death at the age of 12. Even though Lord Siva may desire to save the person, it is rare to escape death in such a case.
Should Jupiter occupy a house of Mars identical with 2nd, 6th, or 8th from Lagna, this child doubtlessly will face death in its sixth year.
If Rahu occupies the Ascendant at birth, while the Moon is in the 6th/9th, the child will die within 20 days of birth. Similar effects will prevail, if Rahu is in the 4th from Lagna, while the Moon occupies one of the angles.
Death will be inflicted by Rahu in the 7th from Lagna, while the Moon is in the Ascendant. Even nectar will not be useful to him and the death will come to pass in the 10th year of the child.
If the Moon is in the 12th from Lagna, while malefics are in the 6th house, the native will be shortlived. He will suffer from stomachial disorders.
If Rahu occupies the 9th, or the 10th, the native will die at 16, though Indra, Lord of Lords, may try to protect him.
Death will come to pass at the age of 20, if Saturn and the Sun are in exchange Rāśi.

Balarishta: In Horāsāra of Prithuyasas
The child born, when there is Lagn Sandhi is either born, dead, or short lived (if born). Should such Lagn receive a Drishti from malefics, the said results are sure to follow. Birth in Gandanta Nakshatr is destructive of the whole family. Should such a child, however, live, then it becomes a king with an army of elephants and horses.
Luminaries in Sahaj Bhava owned by a malefic and yuti with malefics, make the child sick and live up to 3 years only.
If Candr joins Randhr’s lord in a Kendr, while Randhr Bhava is occupied by a Grah, the child leaves this world soon after its birth.
Should the 7th from Candr be occupied by Mangal and Sūrya, while Rahu is in Lagn, death of the child may be expected within ten days of birth.
Malefics in Bandhu, Randhr, Dhan and Vyaya Bhava will cause sickness and death in l0 days. Should a malefic be in Yuvati Bhava from rising Dreshkan (22nd Dreshkan), while the waning Candr is in Lagn the child faces immediate death.
When all the Grahas are weak and positioned in Sahaj, Ari, Dharm and Vyaya Bhava, the child lives either for 2 months, or 6 months. While Lagn’s lord is in his debilitation Rāśi, or in Randhr Bhava, or is combust, the child’s living becomes precarious and it is equal to a dead one.
A child born under malefic Muhurtas, or, when a Ketu is rising followed by fall of meteors, thunders etc., it hardly lives.
The persons, who are born with severe Yogal indicating adverse results, as explained by Yavanas and others will only bring harm to the family.
A person born under an eclipse, or, when there is Parivesh, or, when a malefic occupies Lagn, or gives a Drishti to Lagn, lives only for three fortnights, or for three months.
Should Lagn’s lord, the lord of Candr Rāśi and the Navamsh lord of Candr Rāśi are all eclipsed, the longevity is only for a few days.
The four kinds of junctions, or conjunction of Candr with malefics will cause death (infant1) and similar results follow, if Candr is in aspect to mllefics without benefic’s aspect, or company.
Should Candr be in the company of malefics only, or, if she is in the 1st, 5th, 7th, 8th, 9th, or the 12th Bhava and be with malefics without benefic’s aspect, or association death of the native will occur.
Should the Lagn Lord and Candr’s dispositor be in the 6th, 8th, or the 12th, or be combust, the death of the native may be foretold in the year denoted by the Rāśi occupied by the said Grahas.
Should Candr be in the 6th, or the 8th, while the Lagn is occupied by its lord, or, when the decreasing Candris subject to mixed influences of malefics and benefics, the native, if born in day time has short life.
If the lord of Lagn is in Marana Pada along with the decreasing Candrin the company of Rahu, or aspected by Rahu, the native dies in his seventh year.
If Candr is weak and aspected by Rahu associated with malefics, or, if the Lagn Lord (or Candr Rāśi lord) has set in (i.e. the 7th from Lagn), or occupies the 8th, the child lives upto its 6th, or 8th year Notes: The Lagn Lord in the 7th (a Marakasthana), or in the 8th is adverse for longevity unless well aspected. But Phala Deepika says, that the Bhava occupied by the Lord of Lagng stands to gain. However, the position of Lagna Lord in the 8th shakes the foundation of the horoscope.
The Lagn lord with Rahu in the 7th brings death in 21 years, or 21 months, or (even) in 21 days.
Add the Rāśi sphutas of Sūrya and Candr. If the particular Rāśi, or its angle, or the 9th Bhava thereof be occupied by a malefic, death comes to pass due to poison, or water (i.e. drowning, rains, foods etc.).
If a malefic planet is in the 8th Bhava, while Lagn lord is in angle in the company of a malefic, without benefic’s aspect, death in the 7th year may be predicted.
From Mesh onwards, the fateful degrees are: 8, 9, 22, 22, 25, 14, 4, 23, 18, 20, 21 and 10. Births in these degrees invite death soon. The same for Candr from Mesh onwards are: 26, 12, 13, 25, 24, 4, 26, 14, 13, 25, 5 and 12 degrees. Notes: Phala Deepika, Ch. 13, Slokas 10 and 11 quote the above degrees fateful for Lagn and Moon. But it does not state, that birth will accordingly inflict death. Jataka Tatwa, (B-108) states, that the following degrees are, respectively, fateful for Candr: 8, 9, 23, 22, 5, 1, 4, 23, 18, 20, 21 and 10 from Mesh onwards and death will be caused in the year denoted by such degree. Saravali (Ch. 10, Slokas 111 to 113) give the following fateful degrees for Candr, respectively, from Mesh onwards: 8, 9, 22, 22, 25, 1, 4, 23, 18, 20, 21 and 10.
Should Candr be in her fateful degrees, mentioned above and be in the company of a malefic, without relief from benefics, or be in the 8th Bhava, or in angle (in such a fateful degree), the child not only dies itself, but takes away its mother too.
Should the Lagn Lord be strong and occupy an angle, or trine, even the ArishtaYogas. indicating infant death can be overcome.
A benefic Grah with strength in angle, not joining the 8th Lord, leads to nullificaion of Arishta Yoga (causing death) in a nativity, or prevailing at the time of a query.
If a strong Grah is in Lagn, the 4th, or the 10th and be not in the company of Sūrya, the malefic Yogas (for short life) will vanish.
Many evil Yogas make the sustaining of the child difficult. But, if Candr, or Lagn receives the aspect of all the Grahas, these Yogas disappear, as darkness does before Sūrya.

Balarishta: In Brihat Parashar Hora samhita
Ch. 9. Evils at Birth
3-6. Short-life Combinations (up to Sloka 23). Should Candr be in Ari, Randhr, or Vyaya Bhava and receives a Drishti from a malefic, the child will die soon. If in the process there be a Drishti from a benefic, it may live up to 8. If a benefic is retrograde in Ari, Randhr, or Vyaya Bhava, receiving a Drishti from a malefic, death will occur within a month of birth. This is true, only when Lagn is not occupied by a benefic. Should Putr Bhava be occupied by Śani, Mangal and Sūrya jointly, (early) death of mother and brother will come to pass. Mangal, placed in Tanu, or in Randhr Bhava and be yuti with Śani, or Sūrya, or receiving a Drishti from a malefic, being bereft of a Drishti from a benefic, will prove a source of (immediate) death.
7-11. If Śani and Mangal give a Drishti to Lagn, as the luminaries are yuti with Rahu (elsewhere), the child will live a fortnight. Immediate death of the child along with its mother will occur, if Śani is in Karm Bhava, Candr in Ari Bhava and Mangal in Yuvati Bhava. One will immediately go to the abode of Yama, if Śani is in Tanu Bhava, while Candr and Guru are in their order in Randhr and Sahaj Bhava. Only a month will be the span of one’s life, who had Sūrya in Dharm Bhava, Mangal in Yuvati Bhava and Guru and Śukr in Labh Bhava. All Grahas (any Grah) in Vyaya Bhava will be the source of a short life, specifically the luminaries, Śukr and Rahu. But the Drishti of these four Grahas (on Vyaya Bhava) will counteract such evils.
12. Candr is capable of causing early end, if she is with a malefic in Yuvati, Randhr, or Tanu Bhava and unrelated to a benefic.
13. Early death will come to pass, if there be a birth in the morning, or evening junctions, or in a Hora, ruled by Candr, or in Gandanta, while Candr and malefics occupy Kendras from Lagn.
15. Early Death. Should all the malefics be in the oriental half, while benefics are in the occidental half, early death of one born in Vrischik, will follow. In this case there is no need of any rethinking.
16. Malefic in Vyaya and Ari Bhava, or in Randhr and Dhan Bhava, while Lagn is hemmed between other malefics, will bring early death.
17. Malefics, occupying Tanu and Yuvati Bhava, while Candr is yuti with a malefic with no relief from a benefic, will also cause premature death.
18. Early death will be inflicted on the native, if decreasing Candr is in Tanu Bhava, while malefics capture Randhr Bhava and a Kendra. There is no doubt about that.
19. Candr in Tanu, Randhr, Vyaya, or Yuvati Bhava and hemmed between malefics will confer premature death.
20. Should Candr be in Tanu Bhava, hemmed between malefics, while Yuvati, or Randhr Bhava has a malefic in it, he will face immediate death along with his mother.
21. Should Śani, Sūrya and Mangal be in Vyaya, Dharm and Randhr Bhava without Drishti from a benefic, the child will face instant death.
22. With a malefic in Yuvati Bhava, or in the rising Dreshkan, while decreasing Candr is in Tanu Bhava, death be experienced early.
23. The life span of the child will be either 2 months, or 6 months only, if all Grahas devoid of strength are relegated to Apoklima Bhavas.

Karma and Devotion
Here I will like to tell a story of a robber (Daku) which I read once in the Vikram betal series. This is obviously the summary and scaled down version of the story. Although Soul of story is intact.
Once upon a time there was a robber, Manidant, Being a son of head of robbers he was also assigned the leaders of the group. When he was a child he heard in a temple that "Whatever you do, devote it to God". Since then he was following this sentence. Now being a leader of the group of robbers he had became a very fierce person. He killed many, robbed many.
People would tremble when they listen his name. King of the state was trying to capture him since many years but he never succeeded. Whatever army or officers he sent to capture or kill him never came back. He was becoming cruel and fierce day by day.
He had a daughter, who was married to a good person in some other state. Her daughter was a very good lady and religious and never hurt anyone. and was living a happy life in the neighbouring state.
After some time when his wrongdoing reached peak, king decided to kill or capture robber at anycost. King himself set on the way to had a fight with the Manidant and kill him. They had a great fight in the forest near the hideout of robber's group.
Ultimately all of his group members were either killed or arrested, but the Manidant managed to flee. He fled away and ran
toward the jungle. Ultimately he reached in deep jungle. He was thirsty, hungry and tired. walking slowly he reached a small ashram. Where a Sadhu lived. When Manidant approached Sadhu was in deep state of samadhi and was sitting under the tree lost in the deep trans state of meditation. Manidant approached the sadhu and asked for water. Sadhu didn't responded.
Manidant asked again and again but there was no response from sadhu who was drowned in his own state. Manidant got angry and hit the sadhu, sadhu's transstate broke and he woke up. Sadhu got angry. He told manidant "Don't you know I was in samadhu. Why you disturbed me?" Manidant said, "I am Manidant, the great robber. I am thirsty, go and bring some water for me"
Sadhu got angry and said "You distrubed me just for some water!. I curse you, 'Turn to stone now'"
But to much amazement of sadhu, nothing happened to Manidant. Sadhu repeated his words again, again nothing happened. even third time it was of no use. Instead Manidant was standing there laughing.
Sadhu's anger settled down. He said "My curse has never gone waste. This is the first time this has happened. You must be a God in shape of a human or atleast you have much stronger supernatural powers than me. So you are respectable to me. I am sorry for my behaviour. You sit I will bring some food and water for you.
Sadhu went and brought water and food for Manidant. Manidant ate to his heart and relaxed. Manidant thanked and moved ahead. After that manidant continue to hid in jungle and keep moving here and there to escape from the king's men.
There in the capital, arrested robber members of Manidant's group were tortured and asked about manidant's possible hideout. During interrogation King came to know about Mandant's daughter and his husband. and he came to know that Manidant loves his daughter very much and will do anything for her.
King sent his men and arrested her daughter and her husband and brought them to capital. He announced that Manidant should surrender himself in seven days in front of king, other wise King would kill Manidant's daughter and Son in law and will
hang their heads on the door of the fort's gate. King sent his men to every corner of the state to announce this announcement. So that manidant can hear this.
Manidant recieved this news on 7th day of the dead line. He started running toward capital, without stoppig, without drinking or eating. He continued running for whole day and night.
When he reached the capital, and looked towards the fort door, he saw his daughter's and son-in-law's heads hanging and blood dripping from the cut end. He cried loud and loud. He started cursing and abusing King. He said "What a butcher and cruel this king is. He killed two innocent people who had nothing to do with any of my crime."
Just after Manidant said this sentence, He turned into a stone at once.
See, All i wanted to say was that the whole system is based on
karma-fruit theory. A balance is essentially maintained between these
two. Whatever karma you do, knowingly or unknowingly, you will have to
reap the fruit. So at the end, to attain moksha, your debit and credit
of karma-fruit account must be equal.
So, in geeta, god says that if you are doing a karma and devoting it
to me, that karma will not be added to your account. That karma will
be transfered to god's account. So if that karma will not will be
added to your account, then you will not have to bear the fruit of
that karma, then you will not have to come to this earth again to get
the fruits, and then you will attain the moksha.
God clearly states in geeta that this rule applies to every person.
Whether a sanyasi or grihasth (married person with a family) or any
other person.
God says that, for doing this, 1) you should do the work which has
been assigned to you with full devotion and honesty
2) you should not expect or keep a want of any fruit either good or
bad in return of that work done
3) whatever fruit you get in return of the work done by you, you
should accept that fruit with a neutral state. Means that you should
not get happy if you get good or more than expected fruit in return of
your work. And also should not get sad if opposite happens.
If you follow these things, all the karmas done by you will be
accredited to god's account instead of your's and you will be freed
from karma-fruit cycle. And hence this way even a grihasth can achieve
moksha.
Till the robber was following the above rules he was untouched by any
of the material fruits. So he didn't turned to stone when sadhu cursed
him. But as sadhu's words cant go empty, they were sticking to
manidant's fate, but he was saved because he was out from karma-fruit
cycle. But as soon as he reentered this cycle again, the words of
sadhu worked.
I hope you got me. Let me know if any doubt or mistake
kind regards,
Atul

UCCH bhang yoga
"Uccha Bhanga" is an undesirable disposition of planets. It happens
when two exalted planets aspect each other.
There is a saying in Tamil, "Ucchan Ucchanai parthal Jathagan pichhai
eduppan". The rough translation of the same is " when an exalted
planet receives the aspect of another exalted planet the native
becomes a beggar".
Dr. B.V. Raman describes this disposition, as Uccha Bhanga Yoga and
is bad. He was of the view that the native heads for bankruptcy.
It is not uncommon to see in charts that when Jupiter is exalted in
Cancer and Mars is exalted in Capricorn.

In Hindu system of astrology, astrology is given status of “eyes of Vedas”, as one can perceive past, present & future through this futurity branch of knowledge; then its most useful branch – Election (Muhurtha) – has a rightful status of “brain”; as certain moments are auspicious / fruitful than other, is known through electional astrology only. And aspirant is rendered guidance to plan birth of life events for fruition of aspirants desires through astrological, spiritual, mundane, environmental omen & sound energies available at the moment of initiation of the selected activity.
Hindu system of Electional (Muhurt) astrology covers all the life activities right from conception to performing of the last rites after death. It also covers some activities on which there is no human control; like puberty & teething; with a view to take precautionary measures in addition to delineating their effects.
The guidance provided by this branch of knowledge is fundamental, & when effectively used along with the sound professional knowledge related to the activity, degree of success & fruition (Siddhi) is almost certainly assured.
Hindu electional astrology since the time immemorial from the birth of the Vedas is being profitably used in Yagyas (ceremony in which oblations are offered) & performing Samskaras (pronounced as Sanskaras - sacraments for purification of the body, mind & soul). None of these rites were thought possible without auspicious Election (Muhurt). Without auspicious Election (Muhurt) they lose their purpose of purification.
By acting on auspicious Election (Muhurt) for conception & Punvasan Samskaras (sanctification of pregnant woman), one can have choice of sex of progeny; safety & health of foetus can be assured through Seemanta Samskar (for health of foetus); warding of evil effects of planets & adverse birth time through Jaatakaram Samskar (for destroying evil effects on newly born); higher level in wisdom, education, wealth & profession is achievable through Vidyaarambh (starting of education) Samskar; longevity, health, disease free life through tonsure Samskar; continuous gain of ornaments & the like through ear boring Samskar; spiritual development & purification through Upanayana Samskar (wearing a scared thread); health & proper medical development through Aanaprashan (first feeding to a child) & first feeding in milk; peace of the departed soul through proper last rites; are achieved on compliance of prescribed Election (Muhurt) .
Regarding marriage related activities, one should seek election for engagement, sending invitation cards, solemnizing of marriage, first sexual union & first return of bride to her father’s house; to ensure mutual love, virtuous wife and, felicitous & harmonious married life.
In lot many day to day activities, Election (Muhurt) has its role in achieving higher success through lesser efforts.
Start of a travel of importance at favourable time for an aspirant shall surely bring success to him; wearing of ornaments & clothes in the prescribed Election (Muhurt) shall lead to prosperity & well being; fast progress, development & profits are assured in new venture & business initiated at felicitous Election (Muhurt).
WHEN ELECTION (MUHURT) IS NOT REQUIRED
Election (Muhurt) has emanated from Vedas, Shaastras, Puraanas, Shrutis, Smritis, scriptures, and other canonical, religious & mythological holy books. In the matters of daily routine & the activities performed daily, do not require Election (Muhurt). Like a person who daily shaves, need not follow Election (Muhurt) but shall do better to avoid after-noon & malefic days like Tuesday & Saturday, especially night-time.
Like a person who has to travel urgently without having time to consult ephemeris or astrologer, he may travel to meet the exigencies like performance of death rites, to attend marriage & the like rites, on hearing obituary news.
