who are not so familiar with SSS, may want to know that in the book Surya sidhhanta, Author says that at the beginning of kaliyuga, all the planets were at starting of zodiac, means zero degree aries. This point is always questioned. And most people didn't believed that it really happened! With drik ganita used one does not get these position when we draw a chart for start of zodiac!!
Narasimha ji answered this query in his recent mail. below is some quote from his mail
when we draw this chart using SSS calculations and also SSS ayanamsya, one can find Sun at 2 degree aries, moon at 5 degree aries mars at 7 degree aries. And rest of the planets at last two degrees of pisces. Which is very very close to zero degree of aries. If we do beeja sanskara for that time means about 5100 years ago we will get that these planets will be very close to zero.
Those who dont know, beeja sanskara (a type of modification) is needed in astrology calculations regularly because of many astronomical reasons. after every fixed amount of years some changes are made in calculations so that we the exact positions as per current time. Current calculations we are getting in jhora is for current time frame and for getting such an old chart we need beeja sanskara for that time. which will remove our doubt.
Below is a quote from Respected Ramaswami Sastry's blog about Drig-ganita vs SSS
Drig Ganita Panchanga is based on the physical positions of the planets as observed in the sky ( after applying the constant called ayanamsa ).
Vakya panchanga is based on vakyas (sentences / formulae ) to arrive at the positions of the planets.
Surya siddhanta says that even when formulae are employed to calculate planetary positions, corrections shall be applied by observing the sky on a periodic basis. This is called bija sanskar.
The last correction was done centuries ago. Drig ganita depends on modern astronomical data as those provided by observatories and NASA etc. If you calculate as per vakya panchanga the position of a planet and look in the sky, you will not find that planet at that longitude.
